Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on Aug. 1, 2014

Last month, CMTA launched its new Champions of Manufacturing program to put the spotlight on innovative California companies and their talented employees.

CMTA recognized its first seven Champion companies at an inaugural Summit in Sacramento. Each companies' efficient operations, innovative products and loyal employees showcase why manufacturing growth is so important to Californias future.

The videos of the companies, leadership and employee speeches and introductions by host Adam Carolla can be seen at the new Champions webpage. You can access each company's video specifically at the links below. You can also syndicate the video using the tools attached to each video.

What it means to be a Champion:

Manufacturing Champion Companies
The Champions recognition program honors positive contributions by manufacturing companies who are committed to California and exemplify the high principles of economic growth, innovation, entrepreneurship, and commitment to their employees. CMTA plans to honor at least five "Champions of Manufacturing” companies each year. We want to demonstrate how California manufacturers make a positive impact on their industry sector, their employees and their communities. If a company is interested in applying to be recognized they must be nominated through their local economic development group or their local industrial group.

Manufacturing Champion Partners
We have assembled a growing statewide network of Manufacturing Champion partners to help spread our message. Our partners include regional manufacturing associations, local economic development agencies, cities, counties, institutions of higher education and workforce training organizations. We will actively work with our partners to seek out and distribute videos and stories featuring positive messages about California manufacturers and their workers.

Manufacturing Champions Individuals
We are building a statewide army of Manufacturing Champions to join us in the belief that a brighter future for California depends on healthy, growing manufacturing companies. A Manufacturing Champion can be anyone: small, medium and large manufacturers; manufacturing workers and their families; company executives; suppliers; concerned citizens; government officials; and students.

If you want California manufacturers to make multi-million dollar investments in California and hire thousands of workers to create innovative and exciting new products, then you are a Champion of Manufacturing.

If you want students and parents to learn about the tremendous opportunities for exciting careers in manufacturing, research & development, industrial arts, and skilled technical work, then you are a Champion of Manufacturing.

If you want California to lead America’s Manufacturing Renaissance with homegrown California manufacturers who combine innovation, energy efficiency, productivity, sustainability and high-wage middle class jobs, then you are an individual Champion of Manufacturing. Sign up in the red box in the upper right corner of CMTA.net for alert and champs updates, and tell your manufacturing friends!

Update on California's manufacturing job trend

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on April 25, 2014

California's monthly jobs report last week showed that we lost another 1,700 manufacturing jobs even though the state added 11,000 non-farm jobs and our our overall unemployment rate stayed the same.  We continue to lag the nation's manufacturing growth by a substantial margin since we started to recover from the recession in 2010.  Manufacturing jobs in the U.S. are up 5.38 percent while the Golden State lags with only a .53 percent increase.

The Labor Market Information Department also predicted in a February report that manufacturing is the only private industry in the state that is set to lose jobs over a two-year period between 2013 and 2015.

The growing and consistent acknowledgement from the Governor and his recruitment team Go-Biz that manufacturing is critcal to California's success -- given its tremendous salaries, innovation, workers and ripple effects in the economy -- gives us hope that their leadership will get all Californians and policymakers to do their part to help improve this trend.

Manufacturing Champion and comedian Adam Carolla headlines CMTA Summit

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on April 4, 2014

CMTA’s 2014 Manufacturing Champions Summit just got a huge boost.

Talented funnyman and manufacturing champion himself, Adam Carolla, has agreed to host the big event. You may have heard Carolla on the radio, on his #1 downloaded podcasts, at the Punchline, or on Fox News providing California perspective. He's edgy and he tells great jokes, but more importantly he's a huge fan of manufacturing and understands its importance to California's success.

Adam Carolla and the exciting CMTA Manufacturing Champions Summit will start at 10 a.m. on June 18 at the Sacramento Convention Center. The event will conclude at noon.

CMTA knows that California manufacturing is capable of once again leading the country in innovation and high-wage job growth.

Much like the massive aerospace investment in the 80’s and the technology manufacturing sector growth in the 90’s, California should be promoting manufacturing over the next decade to provide tremendous opportunities for our working families and our economy.

To that end, we signed the talented Adam Carolla to host the event, celebrate our Champions and engage the Summit’s policymakers on how we can make this all happen again for California.

We are inviting Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Governor Jerry Brown as leaders of the two largest manufacturing regions in the country -- Los Angeles and California. We will also have our newest Manufacturing Champion companies on hand to explain what will help them grow their incredible operations in California.

You can either attend the event on June 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sacramento Convention Center or you can watch the event live online at the same time. Space is limited. Either way you need to register online here.
