Help inspire a new generation of manufacturing on Oct. 3

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on Sept. 18, 2014

Last year, more than 830 events (and more than 60 in California) were held in manufacturing facilities across the nation to highlight the sector’s tremendous benefits.

CMTA is pleased to once again join the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and support Manufacturing Day 2014 on Friday, October 3. We need the participation and support of manufacturers, students and teachers to help inspire a new generation of manufacturers and connect with communities by doing the following.

If you are a manufacturer:

  1. Host an event on October 3. Register your event at www.mfgday.com
  2. Tweet your best facility photo (even if you can't host an event) on October 3 with the double hashtag #CA #MFGday. We will announce our winner to statewide media again this year and your company will be considered to be recognized as one of CMTA’s next Champions of Manufacturing.

If you are a student or teacher of a hands-on or career technical education course:

  1. Tweet your best course photo on October 3 with the double hashtag #CActe #MFGday. We will announce course winner to statewide media.

Manufacturing Day provides manufacturers a unique opportunity to expand the knowledge about the great benefits of a career in manufacturing and demonstrate our industry’s value to the U.S. and California economy. Companies can also use this day to educate their communities on the services and goods they manufacture. Whether through a plant tour for community partners or an open meeting with your company’s leadership and elected officials, Manufacturing Day is a great way for you to increase public awareness of the manufacturing industry.

Be sure to check out NAM’s Manufacturing Day Host Toolkit to see all the best practices and sample ideas that will help you plan a great event this year.

For more information on hosting an event, please contact NAM's
