20 modern manufacturers who’ll inspire you

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on Dec. 3, 2018

Modern manufacturing is evolving and getting stronger by the day. While innovation is changing the types of jobs people do, it is not changing what is at the core of manufacturing in the United States: people from all walks of life who lend their talents to make things that matter. America (and California) needs more creators ... and more Americans need to see themselves in these rewarding roles.

The Manufacturing Institute and PwC have come up with a great way to introduce us all to particular manufacturing workers who make the industry strong not only by their work ethic but also through their diverse backgrounds and paths in life. You can meet these 20 modern manufacturers at their page here:

Nominations now open for 2019 STEP awards for Women in MFG

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on Aug. 10, 2018

CMTA is excited to announce that The Manufacturing Institute's 2019 STEP Ahead Award nominations are now open.

The National Association of Manufacturers' (NAM) Manufacturing Institute designed the STEP Ahead initiative to honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and production (STEP) careers. They hold positions at all levels of manufacturing, from the factory floor to the C-suite and illustrate the widespread impact women have on shaping the industry, whether they are running the company, designing the next big product or testing innovations on the shop floor.

All champions of the manufacturing industry should share this opportunity with their networks and nominate a female peer or colleague so that we can inspire the next generation.

In 2019, the Institute will honor 100 women and 30 Emerging Leaders, a category introduced to recognize women under the age of 30 who have achieved unique accomplishments at the start of their careers.

Visit www.themanufacturinginstitute.org/nominate to nominate someone before the nomination period closes on October 5, 2018.

For any questions or more information, download the Nominations Guide Toolkit or contact the Institute’s STEP Ahead team at STEPahead@nam.org.

Bay Area MFG group putting together a whopper of a Summit

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on April 21, 2018

Manufacturers in northern California have a great opportunity on May 24 (from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) to attend the Association of Manufacturers Bay Area (AMBayarea) Summit in Oakland California.

The event has already grown to approximately 175 attendees and the number is sure to get larger.  At the Summit you'll learn about the growing talent pipeline, hear from experts on bottom line issues and network with a large group from the manufacturing community.

Regional manufacturing groups like AMBayArea provide an effective way to grow your business and at the same time raise the collective voice of manufacturing.

Keynoting the event is the Manufacturing Institute's very own Carolyn Lee. As Executive Director, Carolyn leads the Institute’s workforce development efforts to close the skills gap and inspire Americans to enter the U.S. manufacturing workforce, focusing on women, youth, and veterans. Carolyn will address the Institute’s initiatives, national programs and best practices that are making a real difference to increase the talent pipeline, and she will detail opportunities available to Bay Area manufacturers.

CMTA will attend and we hope to see you there. Details HERE.
