Manufacturers welcome Gov. Jerry Brown

Jan. 3, 2011 Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association president, Jack M. Stewart, made the following statement today after Governor Jerry Brown's inauguration:
"California inaugurated a Governor with the will to make difficult decisions today. The state's manufacturers welcome Gov. Brown's toughness and forward-thinking.

In his inauguration speech, he gave credit to California for being the 'exception' in many ways. Yet we have not escaped terrible economic devastation and a daunting challenge to bring jobs and prosperity back to the state. The business climate is among the worst in the country.

Funding state and local government will only be possible with a growing economy. We urge Gov. Brown to “do no harm” to the business climate by making the regulatory environment less burdensome and more predictable."
