Manufacturers comment on proposed Cap-and-Trade spending plan
Aug. 18, 2016 Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association president Dorothy Rothrock made the following comment today on the California State Senate's proposal to spend $1.2 billion in cap-and-trade revenue on various projects.
"California is on track to meet our 2020 climate change goals. It's not urgent, nor is it prudent, to hand out more than a billion taxpayer dollars when we haven't resolved litigation and figured out the costs to meet any post 2020 emission reduction goals. Manufacturers and other job creators need assurances that policies will be affordable for the long term with wise investments of taxpayer dollars. Lawmakers should take a pass on this last minute budget-play and focus instead on a comprehensive climate change plan."
