CMTA Welcomes New Energy Lobbyist

Sacramento, CA- - The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) announced this week the addition of Joseph Lyons to its government relations team. Lyons will be heading up the association’s lobbying efforts on energy policy -- a position vacated by Delette Speelmon who went to work for the State Assembly Republican leadership.

“Joe has a long history of experience with energy issues and comes to us with strong relationships on both sides of the aisle in the capitol,” said CMTA chief lobbyist, Dorothy Rothrock.

Prior to joining CMTA, Lyons was the Principal Consultant to the Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee and the 2nd Extraordinary Session Assembly Energy Costs and Availability Committee. He became a Utilities and Commerce Committee consultant in January 1997, when then-Assemblywoman Diane Martinez was appointed chair, and served under both Martinez and her successor, Assemblyman Roderick D. Wright.

Prior to becoming a consultant to the Utilities and Commerce Committee, Lyons served on the personal staff of Assemblyman Dan Hauser and Assemblywoman Martinez.

“California’s ever-developing energy policies are of the utmost importance to industry and its large energy users,” said CMTA President Jack M. Stewart. “Joe’s experience and knowledge will enhance the association’s efforts to ensure fair and reasonable energy policy for all consumers.”
