CMTA Energy Lobbyist Takes Reigns as Association's Chief Advocate

Sacramento, CA - The California Manufacturers & Technology Association announced today that Dorothy Rothrock has been appointed Vice President, Government Relations. In her new position, Ms. Rothrock will oversee the association's advocacy before the legislature and the Davis Administration. Rothrock replaces Mr. Gavin McHugh, who held the Vice President position since March, 1998 to December, 2000.

Dorothy has served as CMTA's energy lobbyist for the past year and has done an outstanding job at coordinating and communicating CMTA's policy positions between our members, the legislature and the Davis Administration." said CMTA president Jack Stewart.

Prior to joining the CMTA staff in February, 2000, Rothrock consulted on energy and telecommunications regulatory issues for industrial energy users, policy advocates, and economic research firms. Among her clients were CMTA members Intel Corporation and California Steel Industries.

Former CMTA Vice President, Gavin McHugh, said that "Rothrock is a very capable advocate and that CMTA members will be well served by her ability to work with legislators from both parties to advocate a pro-growth agenda."

Rothrock began her career at Portland General Electric as an attorney, moving to management positions in commercial operations, public affairs and power marketing prior to relocating to California in 1990.

Ms. Rothrock received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oregon in 1977 and her Juris Doctorate from the Lewis and Clark School of Law in 1980. She is a member of both the Oregon State Bar (1980) and the California State Bar (1997).
