Unprecedented Economic Analysis Detailing Manufacturing's Importance To Be Released Tomorrow

Sacramento, CA- - Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., the California Manufacturers & Technology Association and the Milken Institute will release a groundbreaking economic analysis. Entitled "Manufacturing Matters: California's Performance and Prospects" the report details:

-- Manufacturing's importance to the state

-- The dangers facing the industry

-- A call to action for state leaders


The report's findings include:
-- California's costs are 32 percent higher than the national average

-- California is the most expensive industrial state in which to do business

-- A single California manufacturing job creates three additional jobs

-- A five-cent sales tax reduction on manufacturing equipment will create an average of 50,000 new jobs and generate $44 million in new state revenue every year for 10 years
