On June 23, 2004, ten months of regional manufacturing summits resulted in a statewide Summit that emphasized an overall consensus on the need for the California legislature to partner with employers and employees to make sure that California grows, and benefits from, a healthy and competitive manufacturing community.

Four former governors, economists, large and small manufacturing employers and industry representatives collectively voiced their concerns, observations, research and foresight. They sent one incontrovertible message to the Legislature through the summit and the media - MANUFACTURING DOES MATTER.

CMTA will use information from the regional and statewide summits to make recommendations for the 2005 Legislatiove session to grow and improve California's manufacturing environment.
