MFG Day 2019 was Spectacular!

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on Oct. 13, 2019

Held annually on the first Friday in October, Manufacturing Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to press, students, parents, teachers and community leaders.

Dating back to the Industrial Revolution, much of the United States' economic strength has been built on the back of the manufacturing industry. Manufacturing today has the highest ratio of any economic sector. In California alone, we have wages that average $87k, a manufacturing GSP of over $285 billion and every one manufacturing job supports 2.5 others in the economy.  Beyond the tremendous economic benefits, the innovation and skills you'll find on manufacturing floors in California  is extraordinary and often creates a sense of excitement and real purpose.

California showed off its manufacturing chops this year with more than 275 events. Here's a look at some of the events CMTA attended. Thank you to our members who participated - Bishop-Wisecarver, California Steel Industries, Corteva, General Motors, Northrop Grumman, and more. Even Go-Biz' Lenny Mendonca (top left picture - middle) attended an event to get a sense of the realtime opportunities our manufacturers offer.

CA MFG will shine on Manufacturing Day 2019

Posted by Gino DiCaro, VP, Communications on Sept. 19, 2019

National Manufacturing Day on October 4 is quickly approaching. There are 170 registered events in California and we are hoping to eclipse last year's total of 250.

Held annually on the first Friday in October, Manufacturing Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders.

Manufacturing Day addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. MFG DAY is designed to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinate a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges. The rallying point for a growing mass movement, MFG DAY empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.

Here are 7 things you can do on #MFGday19.
