The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will conduct two key public meetings on Jan. 22 in Sacramento relating to the implementation of AB 32 (Fabian Nunez, D-Los Angeles) (Statutes of 2006, Chapter 488).  The first workshop, from 9:30 to 12:00 will deal with the implementation plan and schedule.  The second, from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m., will focus on "early action" measures.

AB 32’s requirements stretch out over a multi-year period.  At the morning session, ARB staff will present an implementation schedule and key milestones.  They will also discuss plans for ensuring "broad stakeholder involvement."

AB 32 directs ARB to publish, by June 30, 2007, a list of discrete early action greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures to be adopted, implemented and enforceable no later than Jan. 10, 2010.  At the afternoon session, ARB staff will outline their proposed criteria for determining early action measures and some of the options that they are presently considering.
