While relatively few bills (less than 300) had been introduced prior to last week, approximately 2,600 bills hit the desk before the deadline, February 23. At least 30 days must pass before these bills can be heard in committee.  This means that in late March and early April there will be hundreds of bills being heard by policy committees each week.

We will highlight interesting bills in these pages and on the CMTA website at  To find out in more detail what each bill does and to influence CMTA positions, please participate in the CMTA policy committees.  Contact Loretta Macktal at for information on how to join the committees of your choice.  Regular conference calls and in-person meetings will keep you abreast of bill amendments and opportunities to join in advocacy efforts.

Thanks in advance for your active participation and support for CMTA efforts to keep manufacturers competitive in California.
