Join CMTA in welcoming Cynthia Leon as our new Director of Human Resources, Workers’ Compensation, and Safety and Health.

Most recently, Cynthia was Chief of Staff to Assemblywoman Nicole Parra (D-Hanford), supervising the day to day operations of both the Capitol and two district offices including scheduling, press, outreach plans and political agendas.

"Her background in analyzing and creating legislation in health care, education and transportation for the Assemblywoman will serve her well at CMTA," said Dorothy Rothrock, CMTA Vice President, Government Relations.

Cynthia also served as principle advisor to Parra in revitalizing the goals of the Moderate Democrats. In this capacity, she developed relationships between various industries, including some CMTA members, and the new members of the Assembly.

Before joining Parra’s office, Cynthia was personal assistant to Governor Gray Davis providing support and access to the Governor. She was also special assistant to the senior advisor to the Governor.

Earlier, Cynthia was a political consultant with "Flex Your Power", a CMTA-partner in California’s sate energy conservation effort, where she collaborated with the development of several initiatives in education, small business, and energy briefings.  Among other internships and volunteer work, Cynthia worked with the Deputy of Budget and Finance with the State and Consumer Services Agency.

Cynthia holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Spanish Literature from the University of California, Berkeley.

Our special thanks to Willie Washington, the association’s long-time human resources lobbyist, now retired, for representing CMTA on these issues for the last few weeks.  In addition to his consulting with CMTA, Mr. Washington serves as Commissioner on the Industrial Welfare Commission and on the Workforce Investment Board.
