Many new appointments have been made to State Workers’ Compensation Boards, Commissions, etc. over the past few weeks.  Among them are two former legislators:

Greg Aghazarian was appointed to the Worker's Compensation Appeals Board by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Aghazarian, a republican, represented the 26th District in the state Assembly from 2002 to 2008. The district includes Stockton, Modesto, Victor, Lockeford, Clements and Morada.

The Workers' Compensation Appeals Board is a seven-member, judicial group that reviews workers' compensation decisions and regulates the claim adjudication process.

The Senate Rules Committee appointed former Democrat Senator Mike Machado to a seat on the board of directors of the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF).

Machado represented the 5th Senate District including the cities of Davis, West Sacramento, Stockton and Tracy. He served as the chairman of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee.  Last year, he conducted a hearing targeting SCIF’s management in response to a series of highly publicized scandals two years ago, calling into question the competence and ethics of SCIF management.
