According to a report released by the independent Little Hoover Commission, California would benefit from the creation of an Office of Economic Development. The report suggests that since the closure of the Technology, Trade and Commerce Agency in 2003, the State has lacked a fundamental economic development organization.  To remedy that void, the Commission recommends a new entity be formed to streamline economic development in the State.
