Workers' compensation conference debates in first meeting

On August 26, 2003, the workers' compensation conference committee met for the first time to discuss various reforms that could help fix and potentially reduce costs in the current system.

In the first panel, Insurance Commissoner John Garamendi gave a detailed overview of the costs, some reforms that would provide relief, while setting the foundation for the rest of the hearings.

The hearing continues tommorrow, which will include testimony from several of the stakeholders.
