August 31st marked the end of the 2009-10 Legislative Session with a flurry of bills moving off the floors while others remained bottled up due to inter-house conflicts. Republican legislators stood up many times for their right to see legislation and analysis prior to a vote, and both parties took many hours debating the need for an appropriations hearing on the controversial plastic bag ban bill, which ended in the bill’s defeat. A few bills didn’t get votes when time ran out at midnight, including SB 722 to increase renewable energy purchasing.
