CMTA is planning eight to ten Manufacturering Summits for this coming fall and winter to highlight the value of manufacturing to local opinion leaders and local media. We are working with local industrial and business associations to convene the summits that will include a variety of large and small manufacturers. At these summits, business leaders and employers will address the state's challenging issues in panels on workers' compensation, environmental regulatory burdens, energy issues and workforce development.

CMTA plans to follow up the eight to ten regional events with a statewide event in Sacramento next March. Our first summit will be in Contra Costa County on September 30.

The purpose is three fold: develop local support for saving manufacturing jobs, build a stronger grassroots force and develop a pro-manufacturing legislative agenda for 2004.

The proposed "regions" are:

Contra Costa
San Jose
Santa Ana
Long Beach
San Fernando
San Gabriel

Please call Gino DiCaro at 916-498-3347 if you are interested in participating in any of the local manufacturing summits.
