Senator Rod Wright (D-Los Angeles) will chair a meeting of the Senate’s Select Committee on Job Creation and Retention on Thursday, October 6th, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 112 of the State Capitol.  The focus of the meeting will be the pending draft industrial, municipal and CalTrans stormwater permits proposed by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB).  Other committee members are Senators Michael Rubio (D-Bakersfield), Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar), Bob Dutton (R-Inland Empire), Joseph Simitian (D-Palo Alto) and Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord).

The initial draft proposal on permits, released earlier this year, would have had a devastating cost impact on industries, cities, counties, infrastructure development and maintenance, commercial businesses and schools.  The SWRCB went back to the drawing board but has yet to release a new draft.

The SWRCB, the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA) and a host of stakeholders will make presentations at the hearing.  A period for public comment is also reserved.
