Environmental excellence recognized at recent conference

CMTA-member companies were honored with environmental excellence awards at the annual Statewide Environmental Summit, November 9 & 10, in San Diego, hosted by CMTA, the Industrial Environmental Association, the Chemical Industry Council of California, the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association and the Water Reuse Association:

  • The Boeing Company – Corporate Sustainability for their commitment to innovative environmental solutions, design of environmentally progressive products, research of cleaner fuels and enhancing the global air traffic system to reduce the carbon footprint of air travel by designing life cycle strategies through their operations, in service and end-of-service of their products. 
  • Johnson & Johnson – Water Conservation for their significant water use reduction project at their La Jolla research campus. 
  • Del Monte Foods – Air Emission Reduction for their focus on greenhouse gas reductions in their supply chain, manufacturing operations and distribution of their products. 
  • Sheffield Platers Inc. – Waste Reduction & Recycling for their leadership in developing the industry standard Model Shop program, a holistic systems approach to reduce waste and emissions, improve worker safety, increase production rates and save on operating costs.

Other awards were made to APTwater (for Green Chemistry and Technology Innovation) and Qualcomm (for Energy Efficiency).

We congratulate these companies for their leadership and innovation.

Additionally, Assemblymember Jeff Miller (R-Orange) was named by CMTA, IEA & CICC as Legislator of the Year recognizing his continued advocacy on behalf of business and industry.
