Green Chemistry coalition warns of key changes needed

The Green Chemistry Alliance (GCA), of which CMTA is a leading member, made a formal media statement this week after the Alliance filed comments with the Department of Toxics and Substance Control (DTSC) on their draft regulations.

“Unless key changes are made, draft regulations will stifle innovation and discourage the development of safer consumer products – precisely the opposite result intended by the groundbreaking 2008 legislation that established California’s Green Chemistry Initiative.

The Green Chemistry Alliance outlined needed changes in the regulations in a 60-page filing submitted to the DTSC.  The comprehensive filing draws on the expertise of leading experts in green chemistry and safer products design.  By implementing the recommended changes, the DTSC could implement safer consumer products regulations that are both meaningful and practical” …
