A new legislative session began December 3 with bill introductions covering topics related to health care implementation, expenditure of Prop 39 funds, enterprise zones, California Environmental Quality Act, campaign disclosures, a Made-in-California program, cap-and-trade, and hydraulic fracking, among many others.

The CMTA policy committees will get more details about these bills and more as we begin the process of positioning early next year. The 39 new assembly legislators need to learn about how bills will impact manufacturing. We look forward to working with you to directly communicate with your district legislators and to host meetings with you in Sacramento. The term limit for this class of members is 2024 – they have time to develop expertise on the topics that matter to us. We encourage you to invite new legislators to visit your facilities, meet your employees and gain a perspective on what it means to be a manufacturer in California.

CMTA lobbyists and President Jack Stewart will be making the rounds to introduce ourselves and highlight our mission. If you can reinforce the credibility and importance of CMTA, our ability to influence will be greatly enhanced!
