Stormwater update

The staff of the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) announced on Tuesday, June 4th, that they now anticipate the release of a new “Draft Industrial General Stormwater Permit” (IGP) and supporting documents on or around July 20, 2013. Staff expects the SWRCB to provide at least 45 days for written comments to be submitted and during that window the SWRCB will hold a public hearing for oral comments. They are tentatively aiming for their already scheduled August 20, 2013 meeting date.

Based on this schedule staff anticipates that the SWRCB will consider the IGP for adoption near the end of this year or early 2014. Staff is recommending to the  SWRCB an effective date for the new permit requirements to be about one year later – January 1, 2015.
