The Governor's "Economic Development Proposal" to replace the Enterprise Zone (EZ) Program with a sales tax exemption (STE) on manufacturing equipment, a new hiring credit and a fund for attracting and retaining jobs passed out of the Senate and Assembly late this week.

The Senate voted to approve the proposal (AB 93) earlier this week on a 30-9 vote with three Republicans supporting and one Democrat voting no.  The Assembly passed the measure late on Thursday with 54 votes, including Republicans Jeff Gorell, Katcho Achadjian, Marie Waldron and Curt Hagman.   Legislation will be taken up Monday in SB 90 to finalize the package.
