CMTA's Jack Stewart testified last week in Redondo Beach at Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi's Select Committee on Aerospace Industry hearing with SpaceX, the Director of Governor's Office of Economic Development, Kish Rajan, and CMTA members Boeing and Northrop Grumman.  The hearing focused on how to rebuild the aerospace industry in California and retain and attract good jobs.

The hearing shed light on the job retention struggles of California’s aerospace industry amid a tight federal budget and competition from other states.  Stewart noted the importance of growing a sector that pays an average $97,000 salary in the state and an industry that supports so many other jobs in the economy.

During the hearing, Asm. Muratsuchi announced that the State Assembly will create an advisory council drawn from industry and academia to advise lawmakers on how to retain aerospace jobs in California.

The Council's board will be attached to the Assembly’s Select Committee on Aerospace.
