DTSC initiates quarterly public meetingsBy CMTA Staff |
In an attempt to increase transparency, CalEPA’s Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has announced the beginning of quarterly meetings to discuss key programs. The first is set for Monday, December 16th from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Byron Sher Auditorium at the CalEPA Building, 1001 I Street in Sacramento. The Department has been under considerable pressure from watchdog groups due to their past handling of permitting and enforcement issues. On the agenda will be a legislative update, a report on the status of the implementation of their Safer Consumer Products Regulations (Green Chemistry) and the results of a third party investigative study of their permitting process. The permitting study was extremely critical of DTSC’s current procedures and the Department will announce the corrective actions they intend to take. The agenda and materials for the meeting can be found here: http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/DTSCQuarterlyPublicMeeting.cfm The meeting will also be telecast online at: http://www.calepa.ca.gov/Broadcast/ |
