CMTA endorsed Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) for Governor on September 30th and CMTA President Jack Stewart spent the following week working with the Schwarzenegger campaign and getting to know the candidate.

Schwarzenegger was delighted with the CMTA endorsement. Stewart had the chance to meet with him briefly on October 1st when he presented his “First 100 Days” plan in Sacramento. Our endorsement was prominently displayed on the web site for two days and Stewart was invited to join the “California Comeback Express” bus tour on Friday for the tour leg that started in Los Angeles and ended in Fresno. Stewart was introduced and CMTA was recognized as a major supporter at each campaign event during the day.

Stewart had the opportunity to ride with Schwarzenegger in his bus for about an hour and used the time to talk about the importance of manufacturing to the California economy as well as discussing specific issues like tax, workers’ compensation and electricity rates.

We look forward to working with the new administration on these challenging and important issues for California manufacturers.
