Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has picked a Capitol Hill staffer, Dan Skopec, to be the energy and environmental point person on his staff, appointing him deputy cabinet secretary for energy, resources and environmental issues.

Skopec currently serves as staff director of the Government Operations Subcommittee on Energy Policy, Natural Resources and Regulatory Affairs, which is chaired by Representative Doug Ose (R-Sacramento).

Ose was a key backer of the price mitigation plan adopted by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 2001 at the height of the energy crisis, and has been a key player in negotiations over the federal energy bill.

Skopec has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of San Diego and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in International Economics at George Washington University.

CMTA looks forward to working with Skopec and other members of the Governor's staff on the energy and environmental issues that are important to California's manufacturers and the economic health of this state.
