The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) has posted a bulletin on their website explaining how SB 20 (Byron Sher, D-Stanford)was amended by SB 50 (Sher). SB 20, the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003, Chapter 526, was signed by Governor Davis. SB 50 was a clean-up measure passed this past session, and signed by Governor Schwarzenegger, Chapter 863.

CIWMB's bulletin covers:

1. Expanded and clarified definition of electronic devices covered and not covered by the Act;
2. The modified notification schedule;
3. A new definition of "retailer";
4. The amended retailer collection schedule;
5. Collection of recycling fees by the Board of Equalization;
6. Clarification of penalties for unlawful sales;
7. The amended manufacturing reporting requirements and a new concurrence procedure; and
8. Details of export notification requirements.
