Jim C. Tudor was officially appointed acting president of California’s State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) on Thursday, February 17th, by State Fund Board Chair Jeanne Cain. In a prepared statement, Cain said that Tudor has "remarkable dedication to the State Fund’s mission" and that "his expertise has helped State Fund to meet many organizational and systems challenges."

According to a Workers’ Compensation Executive flash report, "the appointment was greeted with wild enthusiasm in State Fund district offices." Tudor has served as Executive Vice President since 2003, and been on the Executive Committee for over ten years. He is widely respected in the insurance industry.

State Fund President Dianne Oki recently announced her retirement effective in March, 2005. She has served 37 years with the Fund. According to a CMTA source, Tudor has been serving as acting president unofficially since the announcement. Tudor is expected to guide the State Fund while a nationwide search for a permanent chief executive is conducted.
