The Board of Governors of the California Independent System Operator (Cal-ISO), the public benefit corporation that oversees the state’s electric grid, has appointed Yakout Mansour as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective next month.

Mansour, 57, has 30 years of experience in western grid operations. Prior to his Cal-ISO appointment, he was senior vice president for system operations and asset management at British Columbia Transmission Corporation. He had a similar position at BC Hydro.

Mansour has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary and is a registered professional engineer.

The board also named Ken Wiseman, who was appointed to the board last year, as the new chair, replacing Michael Kahn.

CMTA looks forward to working with the new leadership team at Cal-ISO to ensure the reliability of the state’s electric grid and to do so in a cost-effective manner for California consumers.
