On March 28th, CMTA met with members of the Workers’ Compensation Action Network (WCAN) to discuss pending and future workers’ compensation issues. WCAN is a coalition that brings together members of the business community to strengthen our message through grassroots and education.

Some of the issues discussed in the meeting include:

  • The Fraud Assessment Commission;
  • Appointments to the Commission on Safety & Health and Workers’ Compensation;
  • Andrea Hoch’s confirmation;
  • WCIRB’s cost evaluation of permanent disability;
  • Certification and creation of Medical Provider Networks;
  • Future data collection projects from Insurance Brokers & Agents of the West., American Insurance Association and self-insured employers; and
  • WCAN’s overall strategy for 2005-2006.

Through much of 2004, CMTA worked with WCAN to coordinate highly effective grassroots and media campaigns. Those efforts helped lead to legislative action to fix the broken workers’ compensation system.
