On April 14, 2005 the Senate Rules Committee formally set a date of April 27th as the confirmation hearing for Andrea Hoch, Administrative Director of Workers’ Compensation (AD).

Ms. Hoch was originally scheduled to appear before the committee on February 23rd, but the hearing was put off due to the overwhelming amount of support and opposition letters the committee needed to review.

CMTA strongly supports Ms. Hoch’s confirmation as AD, but the California Applicants Attorneys Association (CAAA) vehemently oppose her confirmation. They believe the best way to delay and defeat regulations for SB 899 is to create uncertainly and instability within the agency.

It is not known whether or not Ms. Hoch will be confirmed.  If she isn’t confirmed, Governor Schwarzenegger will appoint another AD who could hold the post for one year without confirmation.
