Beginning on May 9th, Jason Schmelzer will join CMTA's Government Relations team to lobby workers' compensation, human resources and safety and health issues.  He will be taking the role formerly held by Willie Washington, who will remain employed in a supporting role through the end of this year.

Schmelzer was a former CMTA intern in 1999 and has since gained a wealth of real-world workers' compensation experience and expertise.  Most recently, Schmelzer has been a senior claims representative with Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. where he managed up to 230 claims, including initial investigations, litigation management, medical management, client relations and special projects.  Before that he worked as a claims examiner for AR-CMI/ Wal-Mart and The Hartford.

"I'm thrilled to be working for CMTA on workplace issues important to manufacturers.  Starting in the middle of the year will be a challenge, but I look forward to making a smooth transition with Mr. Washington's support and guidance", said Schmelzer.

You can reach Schmelzer at jschmelzer@cmta.net or (916) 498-3322.  Washington can still be reached at wwashington@cmta.net or (916) 498-3320.
