Series intends to redefine perception of California manufacturers

In 2005, CMTA created the California Manufacturers Leading the Way (CMLW) series to explain in an easy-to-understand manner how manufacturers improve the quality of life for all Californians.  The program highlights the positive impacts a manufacturer brings to the local community as well as the rest of the state through high quality jobs and large supplier networks.

This week, CMTA released the inaugural CMLW announcing New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) in Fremont, highlighting it's massive in-state supplier list and its $512 million in annual payroll and benefits.  Thirty-six counties in California have working families that rely on NUMMI's continued operation in Fremont.

The CMLW information will be sent to state legislators, regulators, the Governor's administration, lobbyists, media and labor unions.  A new manufacturer will be chosen to be a CMLW approximately every four months.

Over time we hope to redefine the way California manufacturers are perceived by our elected officials, media and by Californians themselves.

As a CMTA member, your company's primary contact should have received a hard copy of the CMLW in the mail this week.  If you haven't received one, go to the CMLW website to register to have the current and future printed CMLW's mailed to you.  You can also apply online to be a CMLW company and find all the information you need on the ongoing series.

The next CMLW will be released in early 2006.
