The California Manufacturers & Technology Association celebrated their annual Manufacturer of the Year Gala at the historical Sacramento Memorial Auditorium on Monday, March 24, 2003.

Governor Gray Davis along with California’s constitutional officers and more than sixty state legislators turned out to honor William H. Swanson, President of Raytheon.

William H. Swanson receives CMTA's Manufacturer of the Year Award from Governor Gray Davis
This year’s award recipient, California–based Raytheon Electronic Systems continues to grow and produce both high quality jobs and state of the art capabilities in radar and electro-optics in space, airborne and ground applications, as well as world leadership in missiles and naval systems.

Those attending the gala were able to observe various displays of Raytheon both inside and outside the auditorium. In particular, Raytheon displayed their “First Responder” vehicle, which is a state-of-the-art system that provides critical communication capabilities to law enforcement in the event of a crisis. This vehicle is currently playing a huge role in defending homeland security throughout California and our nation.

Following dinner and the award presentation, the Capitol Steps provided the evenings entertainment by performing a comical blend of music and political satire for the audience.

CMTA would certainly like to thank our Manufacturer of the Year recipient Raytheon, all of our gala sponsors, and all who attended. Your continued support is what makes this event so memorable and valuable each year.

We look forward to hosting the Manufacturer of the Year Gala in 2004!
