Ten CMTA member companies receive ENERGY STAR award

On March 21, CMTA member companies 3M, California Portland Cement Company, Ford Motor Company, Frito-Lay, Merck & Co, Inc, Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, San Diego Gas & Electric (both subsidiaries of Sempra Energy) and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, North America joined 59 other organizations as winners of the 2006 ENERGY STAR Partners of the Year Awards.

Each year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department select from over 8,000 ENERGY STAR partners based on their efforts to utilize energy-efficient technologies, communicate the benefits of energy savings to consumers and businesses, and encourage others to partner with ENERGY STAR.

In 2005, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR saved $12 billion on their energy bills while preventing greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 23 million vehicles.  

2006 marks the second year in a row that 3M, California Portland Cement Company, Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, San Diego Gas & Electric and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, North America received ENERGY STAR awards.
