In their upcoming April 3rd issue, BusinessWeek will announce its top 50 performing companies for 2006. This year, six CMTA member companies made the list including, Occidental Petroleum, Amgen, Intel, Valero Energy, ConocoPhillips and Caterpillar.

2006 marks the second consecutive year that Occidental Petroleum, Valero Energy, ConocoPhillips and Caterpillar made the Top 50 list.

In creating the list for top performing companies, BusinessWeek factored in various performance metrics, such as sales, earnings growth and net profit margins. Additionally, 2006 marked the first time that they included long-term earning prospects into the equation. Finally, they accounted for the market's view by measuring total shareholder returns for one- and three-year periods.

CMTA congratulates each company for their achievement. To view the entire list, click here.
