On Thursday, February 13, CMTA testified at the Senate Budget Committee’s informational hearing on the expenditure of $850 million collected in California’s cap-and-trade carbon credit auction. Governor Jerry Brown proposed a split of the money between 3 categories — "Transportation & Sustainable Communities", "Clean Energy & Efficiency", and " Natural Resources & Waste Diversion".

Most of the questions from the legislative panel asked how the state came to prioritize these funds to ensure that we are maximizing our carbon reductions in the most cost effective way, while legal concerns surrounding the collection of the funds were downplayed.
