Workforce education continues rise in its level of importance for California manufacturers struggling to recruit and retain a qualified workforce that meets the demands of business. Last week, California Community Colleges Board announced the formation of a Task Force on Workforce, Job Creation, and a Strong Economy charged with developing policies to prepare more students for existing high value jobs and promote job creation with workforce training that sparks small business development and lures out-of-state business investment in key industry sectors.

This week California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice Harris released the names of those appointed to serve on the taskforce, including CMTA Policy Director Nicole Rice. Nicole handles the workforce development and labor policy areas for the association among other important CMTA priorities. She will be working with members of the CMTA Labor and Employment Committee to develop policies in this area and identify other venues where the association can effect a positive change for California manufacturers.
