The power of CMTA was on display this week during the 2015 Open House event at CMTA with more than 150 attendees, including a strong bipartisan group of more than 40 legislators and several appointed officials from the Administration, as well as many friends and allies.

Newly-minted Board Chair Sara O’Neil and President Dorothy Rothrock thanked the attendees for being a part of the event and encouraged them to connect with CMTA staff and partner with California manufacturers and technology companies to build a better economy. However, the buzz of the evening was around CMTA’s new leadership and the opportunities for growth in 2015.

Other major topics of discussion included the future of climate change and energy policy, career technical education, tax reform and a host of labor policies. The ‘energy’ of the freshman class of legislators (those who could be in office until 2026) indicates that there will be a renewed focus on regulatory oversight and accountability.

Special thanks are due to the event sponsors: Allergan, Calpine, Chevron, International Paper, Owens-Illinois, Phillips 66, Searles Valley Minerals, Solar Turbines, a Caterpillar Company, Tesoro, and Texas Instruments.
