CMTA’s environmental conference in conjunction with the Industrial Environmental Association (IEA) will again be held at the San Diego Convention Center, this year on Wednesday, October 5th and Thursday October 6th. The theme is “Finding Common Ground to Protect Our Environment: Education–Collaboration-Compliance.” Barbara Lee, Director of the California Department of Toxics Substances Control, will be our keynote speaker at lunch on the first day. As in the past, Environmental Excellence Awards will be presented as well as to the Regulator and Legislator of the Year.

Current, hot environmental topics will be covered in the individual sessions : solid waste management, stormwater permitting, hazardous waste handling, air quality, Proposition 65 changes, water conservation, emerging chemicals of concern, and more.

In addition to the breakout sessions on the second day of the conference, there will also be an all day workshop for Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) certification under the auspices of the State Water Quality Control Board personnel. As required by California's Industrial Stormwater General Permit, any exceedances of Numeric Action Levels in stormwater discharges must be investigated by a certified QISP. It may be advisable for companies to have a member of their staff trained as a QISP.

During the afternoon, there will also be an Air Permitting 102 Workshop as a follow-up to last year’s session. The workshop will include an emission calculating session, best available control technology analysis and permitting from start to finish.

There is a lower early bird conference registration rate before September 1 of $455 for CMTA members. You can register here.
