Governor Jerry Brown released his revised state budget proposal on May 11, 2017. The May Revision budgets an additional $43.2 million for a total of $94.6 million in spending on cannabis-related activities. The May Revision includes new money for the Department of Public Health, totaling $9.3 million, to “implement cannabis manufacturer regulations, licensing, enforcement, training, and information technology activities” by January 1, 2018.

CMTA has been engaged with the legislature to ensure that cannabis manufacturers have a healthy legal and regulatory framework to operate under in California, and has been supportive of the Governor’s approach to the industry in his recent trailer bill. We will continue to monitor the development and implementation of new regulations.
