Senator Hannah Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) has pulled SB 347 from its scheduled committee hearing, potentially making it a two-year bill and postponing legislative action on drones until January.

SB 347 would have enacted the State Remote Piloted Aircraft Act, which would have created a bevy of restrictions on the use of drones in California, the violation of which could lead to fines or time in jail.  Under the bill, commercial drone operators would have been obligated to obtain insurance as well as follow any other rules, regulations, and special orders as required by the California Department of Transportation.
