Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association President Dorothy Rothrock made the following statement regarding Gov. Jerry Brown's proposed 2018/19 State Budget:

"Long term budget health depends on a growing economy and high-wage jobs. In the US, manufacturing is enjoying a resurgence and states are competing for new manufacturing investments and expansions for the benefit of their communities. California must continue to take steps to attract and retain the manufacturers who have been the backbone of the state economy for decades and will continue to be into the future.

For that reason, we commend the Governor for including in his budget a $200 million commitment to career tech education, new funding for online college to up-skill our existing workforce and a renewal of the California Competes tax credit. These programs represent a commitment to high-quality new manufacturing jobs and include industry partnerships to ensure the best outcomes for our economy."
